Poetry | A Trapped Daffodil

She rose, a trapped daffodil,
Hidden between barren branches
Their sharpness threatening to pierce –
But still she grew
Tall
Into the gaps,
Her humble head bowed to the sun
In submission
For its blessings.

None seek light
That grows from pain, parched.

Few know the strength
Of a rose that grows in concrete
A daffodil that rises amidst thorns
